Resumen
El regionalismo ha cobrado relevancia desde 1990, como respuesta a la creciente globalización y el estancamiento del sistema multilateral. Aunque este fenómeno generó un gran interés académico, las teorías clásicas sobre integración europea resultaron insuficientes para explicar experiencias fuera de su región de origen, lo que impulsó el surgimiento de nuevas perspectivas teóricas que ampliaron los marcos de análisis y flexibilizaron los conceptos, reconociendo la diversidad de los casos de regionalismo, pero encontrando limitaciones al momento de generalizar. Sobre esta base, se consolidó una perspectiva comparada que busca equilibrar los aportes de las teorías tradicionales de integración europea con los enfoques más recientes del nuevo regionalismo, manteniendo el rigor analítico necesario para realizar comparaciones. Este artículo revisa los avances más recientes en la literatura sobre regionalismo comparado y propone un marco analítico para explicar casos "desviados" de integración. Para ello, introduce el concepto de regionalismo y luego diferencia entre organizaciones de concertación, cooperación e integración regional, con el fin de precisar la estructura del concepto, identificar sus principales atributos y dimensiones y formular una propuesta conceptual y teórica que integra diversas perspectivas y abre nuevas líneas de investigación en el campo de la integración regional comparada.
