Abstract
In the context of globalization, taking into account the multiple tensions that this scenario imposes on the concept of citizenship, it is necessary to challenge those factors that, under a classical reading of the issue, impede the practice of citizenship outside of the boundaries of the State.
For that reason, this article will analyze aspects such as patriotism and nationality, as well as the consequences that immigration has on the idea of citizenship, in order to create a more dynamic approach to citizenship that reflects the contemporary reality.
