Abstract
Like the majority of Latin American and Caribbean nations, Chile has reported an improvement in its overall poverty rate. However, the rate of poverty among women has risen, despite the implementation of public policies that have promoted gender equality since the 90s. What is the reason for this outcome? The concepts of intersectionality and gender mainstreaming in female poverty are key to understanding these results.
