The introduction of mandatory mediation as a previous and mandatory judicial step has generated a broad discussion within literature and
among professionals involved in family cases. One of the most interesting
issues is related with the effects of mandatory mediation in processes and
outcomes. The aim of this paper is to examine the advantages and disadvantages of policies which introduce mandatory mediation, and in this context analyze the Chilean experience of mandatory mediation in family cases
