Abstract

We study the transformations and conflicts related to recognition of the cultural identity of indigenous peoples and other groups in the legal culture of Chile. In pursuit of this object we: (i) develop a specific interdisciplinary methodology that includes study of the legal field as a whole: context, constitutional norms, the practices of operators, their understandings and how they are reflected in precedent; and (ii) use this methodology to study transformations and conflicts identifiable in Chilean legal culture which relate to cultural identity in Chile.
